Diagnostics
Diagnostic technology and interpretive skill are essential to a successful surgical program. Our diagnostic capabilities include digital X-rays, electrocardiogram to monitor the heart, tonometry testing to measure the pressure inside the eye, serology, blood and urine chemistries, and a variety of other procedures to identify problems and enhance safety during surgery. If necessary, we are able to send more complex lab work, such as biopsies, to specialized laboratories for analysis.
Pain Management / Pet Pain Relief
Post-surgical pain management in animals is critical, both for a successful recovery and for humane reasons. No animal should be expected to suffer needlessly–ever! Your veterinarian can anticipate the level of pain associated with surgery. Typically, we can expect that the more tissue trauma, the more your pet will experience pain. For example, soft tissue surgeries are generally less painful than orthopedic procedures, which can cause severe and prolonged pain. However, even “routine” surgical procedures are painful and should include a pain management plan. Good surgical technique with minimal tissue trauma may help to alleviate some of the pain associated with surgery, and Morton Small Animal Clinic strives to provide the best surgical care for every patient.
